Baby Shower

So, for many of you the babies name has yet to be announced, this was due to the great baby shower idea my creative mom came up with. We decided we didn't want the same old same baby shower with all the same old same games, so we changed it up. We did a name mystery dinner, and it was a lot of fun! Ever since finding out the sex of the baby, my mom and I have been telling people all sorts of crazy names, everytime we were asked we gave a different name. So at the shower, my cousin Chalese and some of her theatrical friends played the mystery dinner actresses. They pretended to be my doctor, my hair/nail stylist, and close friends. They went around to each table and tried to see who could guess the name. Only a couple of people knew the actual name. We kept telling my sister Kayloni that the baby name would be Marvella, she was not buying it and pretty much told me it was the worst name ever. However, due to my mom being so persistent Kayloni eventually really thought her neice would be named Marvella. Sorry, my explanation does not do the event justice, but to sum it up the shower was a success! Our little baby girls name will be..... Desirae Anita Brown!

My sister Kayloni, she basically attacks my belly everytime she sees me!

The Hadley sisters. I am so blessed that Desirae will have these two women for Aunts. They are the greatest and Aunt Nicole is responsible for the majority of Desirae's wardrobe! I'm sure they will be great shopping buddies!

Donald's side of the family. Aunt Donna, myself, my mother in law Anita( Desirae's middle name comes from) and my sister in law Denise.

I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many great friends and family members. Donald and I were extremely overwhelmed with gratitude by all of the support. I love the fact that Desirae will grow up surrounded by so many great people!

Baby Preparations!!

The Nursery! Donald picked out the bedding, even though we are having a girl, neither of us is too big on pink so I thought this was perfect. What can I say, my husband has great taste!

Baby's car seat and stroller.

This is our "before baby showers" stash. Donald and I have tried to be very prepared, we have stocked up on diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifiers, and the very much needed onesies! We have been told by several family members to "not buy anything else until after the shower, you all have done too much". Sorry family, I just don't like procrastinating!

Our first baby toy! Yes, i realize that we should have gotten the swing first, but we found this on sale and I can't pass up a good deal!

Mother's Day

So, I wasn't really expecting anything for Mother's Day so I was really surprised when Donald came home from work at 1:00 AM on Mother's day with this....

He's so thoughtful, so he even got something for the baby as part of my gift!

I really do have THE sweetest husband and I thank God for him everyday.

Week 25!!

My perception of week 25:

25 weeks, wow time is flying and i still feel so unprepared. I am so forgetful these days, so please don't be offended if you tell me something and i forget. Sleeping, well what exactly is that, it has now become a long lost friend and is sure to become even more distant in about 3 months :(.  The experts say that my baby weighs about a pound and a half, try telling that to my back!! I am getting more and more excited and I do love moving her move around. I get the feeling that she is going to be quite the busy body, I will be "that mom" who is constantly chasing a super hyper child around.

The "experts" perception of week 25:

Week 25

How Big is the Baby at 25 Weeks Pregnant?

By pregnancy week 25, your baby is approximately 1.5 pounds and just under 13.7 inches long. From this point on, your baby's weight and length may vary somewhat. Every baby is different, some babies will be born weighing 7 pounds and others 10.

Your Baby's Growth and Development

This is a big week for your baby! Around pregnancy week 25, the structures of his spine are starting to form, including 33 vertebrae (rings of bone), 150 joints, and 1,000 ligaments. These structures will eventually support your baby’s body weight. Your baby’s capillaries are also forming this week. Capillaries are the tiny blood vessels that move blood from the heart to tissues in the body. By the end of week 25, air sacs and blood vessels in your baby’s lungs will develop, getting him ready for his first breath. So far in your pregnancy, your little one’s nostrils have been plugged up, but they are now beginning to open up.

The Greatest Mom Ever!

My mom graduated from UVU today with a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality. I am so proud and excited for her. She is a huge inspiration to me, raising kids and still managing to get a degree, that's awesome! Way to go Mom!

Baby Outfits!

My sister bought these two cute outfits. There is a swimsuit that matches the pants too!

So,  my mom is really excited. She started making pink aprons before we even knew it was a girl! She made this apron and the booties. She bought us the cute little jumper set.

5 months and counting

Wow, alot has happened since our last post. First, we found out that we will be having a baby girl! We were already guessing she was a girl so it really wasn't too surprising for us. We are super excited and I keep teasing Donald that she is going to have him wrapped around her little fingers. She is always moving and I actually got a little worried that she was really trying to get out, but the doctor assured me she is just healthy. Donald turned 31 on April 2nd, we took a trip to layton to get away. Even though we didn't travel very far, we still had a really great time. It was a great reminder of just how important couple time is. I have the greatest husband in the world and I am really so grateful for all he does.
